If You Love Me

If you love me, let me now know,

While I can still receive it and feel;

Let your true affection in me flow;

So our life film perceives it and reels.

If you love me, let me know now,

And whisper your words to me

Hold me close so that I will know,

When, like the bulb, for you to glee.

Don’t wait until I am gone,

As if I didn’t leave mother’s womb;

To die without your love isn’t fun,

Since I’ll be lonely in the tomb.

Don’t write my epitaph writ,

And count me as well done;

Don’t erect my cenotaph yet,

While I am still not fully gone.

Without you, I’ll prematurely die,

And take nothing to the grave;

Let me know now before I lie,

And be called daringly brave!
