Life is rude,
          Without love’s hood;
Love is good,
          So life withstood.
 
Life is down,
          Without love’s crown;
The talk of the town,
          So life’s green ‘n brown.
 
Life is bloody red,
          Without love’s bed,
Love will shed,
          Blessings on my head.
 
Life was born,
          Out of love’s morn;
Love will warm,
          The heart’s corn.
 
Life is all night,
          Without love’s light;
