History, knowledge and civilization were and are still built on and around the written documented word. Billions of books were written, yet most of them are on the shelves collecting dust.
The goal of educating oneself is not to become omniscient, but to develop a cosmic consciousness by exploring the depths of knowledge to create a luminous portrait of the diverse information explosion and transform an illiterate world into a more life changing reality and insight.
Education bear witness and testimonial rather than words, and portrays a roll model rather than exhortation, as the more we educate ourselves, the more we realize how ignorant we are.
Books are like an old friend revisited, as books in themselves are a world of wonder, a world of marvel, a world of intimacy coupled with mystery, discovery, enlightenment and challenge. With reading, although you would run the gamut from the serious down to the silly, from the exciting to the boring, nevertheless, the flaws enable the reader to discern reality from opinions, facts from fiction and spins, practice from theory, spirituality from philosophy, and equip the reader to affirm a good and sound judgment.
Education is unlimited like the vast horizon, that becomes tangible on the leaves of a book, and it is as deep and mysterious as the deepest point of an ocean, yet at the roots of reading are the fruits of knowledge and self-educating.
It is given, as Bacon said: ”that some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested”, nevertheless, the sentimental hiatus should neither be the guiding light nor the whiff in pursuing knowledge. In books, apart of knowledge and insight, you might discover inspiration, controversy, wisdom, methods, solutions, piety, as well as use, and you will learn how to give to Caesar what is to Caesar, and to God what is God.
Jonathan Swift aptly termed books as the children of the brain, and to it I add they are the dolls of the heart and the food for the soul.
Nobody dares to challenge that life in itself is a school, but this schooling is often based on opinions, hearsay and myths, let alone personal experience and conjectures, but with proper education and continued reading, one can acquire a vast knowledge, both accurate and applicable.
It is worthy to stress that reading is a journey not a destination and most of us have never seen a miracle until good reading habits are embraced to add mileage to our insight, clarity, fluency, discernment, depiction and learning.
